Carrie Underwood (who?) is a confirmed participant in this year's edition of Idol Gives Back, the "American Idol" charity episode. Last year, Ms. Underwood sang a cover of the Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You," which proved to be a huge hit, selling hundreds of thousands of copies on iTunes and charting on Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Country Singles chart. She will be in LA on Sun., April 6, with her band, to record her segment for the show. Underwood says she will be singing a favorite, but is tight-lipped about what song that might be.

Hold the freakout
We've been in touch with Shania Twain's manager at Q-Prime and received a statement regarding Twain's comment suggesting she had retired from the music business.
"I am unaware of that statement," said Gayle Fines, Twain's manager. "As far as I know, she is still a client for Q-Prime and is still working on new music."
Country On-Demand's staff will be in touch with Twain's label and will work on securing more details on this developing story.

The bandwagon money train
As if we don't have enough already (and as if we can't all admit to ourselves that Apple has it right with iTunes), Facebook is reportedly in talks with the Fab Four (UMG, Sony BMG, Warner Bros, and EMI) because the owners want to make more money, I mean, sell music to users. Reuters reports that the other social network site, Myspace, which does have official artist/band pages and rights to their music, has also approached the Fab Four about launching a similar service. Yippee.

Vince vs Arnold
From the Tennessean: Vince Gill and wife Amy Grant performed last Sunday at the White House in front of governors from around the Union. Vince recalled a time in the 1970s when he was a struggling musician living in L.A. and Arnold Schwarzenegger, now Governor Arnold from California, persuaded Vince to loan him a guitar for a photo shoot. Arnold broke the guitar in the process. The Terminator turned red when Vince brought it up.
"It was an honor for you to break my guitar," said Vince.
And I'm sure Governor Schwarzenegger can say it was an honor to borrow and break a guitar from Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill.

Finally, eh?
For those of you who are regular here, some notes:
1) We are having some major technical problems. That would be why we haven't podcasted or sent out newsletters for the last two weeks. Everything should be up and running by the end of the coming week.
2) FINALLY - new single reviews are up under the music section. Enjoy!
