Poor Mindy McCready. This is not the type of press her management was looking for to announce a new album. It's a must read. You really won't believe what's happened now.

Shania still the one
Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits" has been certified 4x platinum by the RIAA this week. She has now sold 48 million records, which means she is still the best selling country female artist of all time, and is #5 all-time behind Barbara Streisand, Mariah Carey, Madonna and Celine Dion.

What happened before Carrie smashed his truck?
Well, you're about to find out. Carrie is in Las Vegas filming the prequel to "Before He Cheats" as the video for "Last Name." There's a picture of one of the several sets here. Roman White is behind the boards as director again, meaning that all of Carrie's videos (Jesus, Don't, Cheats, Wasted, Small, Name) have been directed by White.
VAULT stages.. stages?
The CMA has decided to stay with the one stage format for their nightly concerts at LP Field during the CMA Fest. So don't be confused when they say "stages." It's just stage.

Listen up, Beyonce
Superstar songwriter Ne-Yo had Ms. Shania and Mrs. McGraw in mind when he wrote "Irreplaceable," Beyonce's biggest hit to date. He tells VH1.com, "Nobody expected it to be the phenomenon it was, it surprised everyone. For one, it crosses every boundary... and it's a song people from all walks of life can enjoy." Ne-Yo, who felt the song could be a massive country hit, favored Twain or Hill, but his co-writer suggested Knowles because he'd recently been penning tunes for her. The rest, as they say, is history.

No visionary?
CMT won't have a Johnny Cash winner this year. Remember, CMT likes to give one artist a special award to commend them on their achievements on the small screen through music videos and the like? Well, they've obviously ran out of commendable people to commend. Past winners include, well, Cash, the Dixie Chicks, Reba McEntire, and last year's winner Kris Kristofferson. I wonder why Shania hasn't gotten an award. Or how about Dolly. Well, CMT says no Visionary this year. And they haven't decided if the award will be back next year.

Of love and music..
Well, as Carrie ends her relationship, Sara gets hers going. There must be something in the water in Nashville.. (look out Miley!).
Carrie said that she and former b/f Chase Daniels broke up via text message. Teen boppers know that a text break-up is the worst, and perhaps, most demoralizing way to be told "get out." But it's Carrie, so I'll let it slide.
Sara wants you to know, in case you didn't, that her fiance, Jay Barker, is "hot and has a great bod." The two started dating in November, and Sara says she fell madly in love with him, in the "oh my gosh" manner.
I love love.

The UK Dolly
Dolly Parton is coming to Broadway this fall with "9 To 5" but the legend says she wants to also take the show across the Pond to her fans in London.
"I think that a lot of times the U.K. audiences are better for me, because people kind of take you for granted in your hometown or your home country," Parton said. "Through the years, my U.K. fans have kept telling me how much they appreciate me and what I do. "
As they say, Dolly is the only person that can leave Tennessee and take the mountains with her. Perhaps this time, she'll take the mountain's music and put it center stage in Europe.

Tim and Faith - we need you!
Lucky us - we get our (most likely) last performance of Tim & Faith together this year. I take that back, we have CMA Fest. Faith is performing for the first time in years -- I wonder if Tim will come, too. Anyway, country's couple of the year will perform "I Need You" on the CMT Music Awards. Should be a goodie! I hope they perform it like the video -- stripped, just Tim, Faith, and an acoustic guitar. The audience will eat that up. Faith just has to sound as lovely as always and the song will bring chills to the house.
Bye bye Wal-Mart
CNBC reports this morning that iTunes has surpassed Wal-Mart as the #1 retailer of music in the United States. This is significant -- Wal-Mart, remember, sells physical albums primarily. This could be the omen of where the music industry is headed, whether the big heads are ready to adjust or not. The report can be found here.
