Kenny To Wake Up New York
Kenny Chesney is having one hell of a year. Having played to over half a million fans on the road this summer and setting chart history, he's gearing up to release a new album... and the folks who wake up early will get a taste of what the new album is all about.
Chesney will kick off promotion for his new album, Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates, September 13th on ABC's "Good Morning America". To make this appearance special, the folks at ABC are taking him straight to the roof. So not only will Chesney and band perform "Never Wanted Nothin' More," but they'll have the Manhattan skyline as their backdrop.
"It's the same idea as morning drive," Chesney says of the morning show performance. "When people are starting the day, it just sets the tone for your entire day and if we're going to kick-off a record, you wanna pull all that energy from New York City and put it right back into your music. If we can get that into people's homes, it'll be perfect."
With a sold out show slated for New York City's famed Madison Square Garden this week, Chesney in the final stretch of his Flip Flop Summer, which will wrap up in Atlanta with a two-night stand Sept. 8 and 9. As Just Who I Am prepares to hit the streets two days later, though, it appears the pace isn't slowing down, only shifting gears.
