Martina McBride plans live album, joint project
For the first time in her career, multi-platinum artist Martina McBride will be releasing a live album. The album will contain selections from her PBS "Great Performances" concert, which will air this March as part of the network's "Pledges" program. The special will air prior to the album release, which isn't expected until the summer.Fans will be able to buy the DVD of the show for $100 through PBS. The network will also offer the singer's latest studio album, Waking Up Laughing, for $90. They will be packaged for a cost of $175. All the proceeds will go to PBS, which is publically funded.
McBride performed fan-favorites such as "Rose Garden," "Independence Day," "When God Fearin' Women Get the Blues," and "Anyway." The DVD will feature two songs that did not make the tv special: "Help Me Make It Through The Night" and "Hit My With Your Best Shot."
McBride is currently working on compiling a live album version of the show, according to sources familiar with the topic. Representatives from McBride's label did not have any comment about the PBS special or live album. The album is expected to be released officially by RCA Nashville and separate from the PBS project later this year.
