"Idol Gives Back" with Carrie, others
On Wednesday night, FOX's "American Idol" will try to top the $75 million it raised last year for charity with country singer Carrie Underwood, pop legends Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, and many more take the stage as part of the 2nd annual "Idol Gives Back" telethon.
Starting at 7:30 EST, fans of the show will be able to donate money to be used in charitable events throughout the world. Last year's proceeds helped children in Africa and New Orleans, LA, among other places.
Underwood taped her performance last night, choosing George Michaels' "Praying for Time." Immediately following the show, her performance will be available for purchase on iTunes.
This is the second year Underwood has participated in "Idol Gives Back." Last year, her performance of The Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You" set records on the Billboard Hot 100, charted on country radio, and became the theme for this year's show.
