The most popular Idol returns to roots on Wednesday
Former "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood will return to the season finale Wednesday.
Underwood, who won the competition in 2005 in the program's fourth season, will sing her hit "Last Name," her spokeswoman Jessie Schmidt said Monday.
Sunday night, Underwood was voted top female vocalist for the second straight year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
The singer was also voted the Most Popular American Idol star ever, according to an AOL Television poll. Underwood received 54% of the vote. Kelly Clarkson, the first Idol, came in second.
