Simpson well received at Thunder, will make Opry debut
Jessica Simpson received boos and ovations in what her team is calling a successful gig this weekend at Country Thunder. She performed covers of Willie Nelson and Shania Twain hits as well as songs from her new album, Do You Know.
Simpson, a pop star in her own right, is trying to make a successful bid on the country charts. Her debut single "Come On Over" has hit the top 20 on Billboard. The video debuted on CMT last week.
According to the Grand Ole Opry's website, the singer will make her debut on Sept. 6 on the legendary stage.
Her debut album hits stores Sept. 9 via Columbia Records.
